Indi Hewavita

CP, BOCO — Prosthetist & Owner

Indi completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at NC State University before pursuing his prosthetic studies at California State University, followed by his residency in Raleigh, North Carolina. His path into prosthetics began with a missions trip abroad, where he witnessed individuals living with limb loss without access to quality care. It was that quiet but unmistakable whisper — the realization that so many were being left behind — that called him into the field and permanently shaped his purpose as a clinician.

With 20 years of practice, Indi’s approach is straightforward: creative problem solving and an unwavering commitment to his patients. He holds himself to one standard — being the hardest working prosthetist his patients have ever encountered, and he will not rest until each one is truly satisfied with their care.

Beyond the clinic, Indi serves as Vice President of Therapy and Beyond, a nonprofit he co-founded alongside a close physical therapist colleague to expand access to rehabilitative care. He also partners annually with the Limb Kind Foundation, traveling overseas to provide prostheses for children living in underprivileged communities around the world — a mission that continues to fuel his dedication to the profession.

Indi is married to Kim Hewavita, and together they are proud parents of four wonderful children. His family is the heartbeat that keeps him going.

As the owner of Center for Prosthetic Solutions, Indi brings that same heart and drive to every patient who walks through the door. During his “free” time, he enjoys tending to his hobby farm, reading, traveling, and making new friends wherever life takes him.

David Smith

Prosthetist & Orthotist

David J. Smith is a certified Prosthetist and Orthotist with over 20 years of experience dedicated to transforming the lives of his patients. Since earning his certification in 2005, David has built a reputation for innovation, developing numerous original designs in orthotics and prosthetics that push the boundaries of what’s possible in patient care.

Driven by a genuine passion for helping others, David approaches his work not just as a profession, but as a calling — combining clinical expertise with creative problem-solving to deliver solutions that restore mobility, independence, and confidence to those he serves.

Outside of his practice, David is a devoted husband and father of two. He is a licensed pilot, an avid golfer and pickleball enthusiast, and finds equal joy in the kitchen. These pursuits reflect the same precision, dedication, and passion he brings to his work every day.

Sarah “Sal” Lane

CO — Orthotist

With over 36 years of experience, Sal is a seasoned orthotist whose passion for patient care has defined her career. She began as an Orthotic Technician in Richmond, VA, before advancing her training at NUPOC, a branch of Northwestern University specializing in orthotics and prosthetics. Over the course of her career, she has worked with patients ranging from 6 weeks to 106 years old, gaining a breadth of clinical experience that few can match.

As the orthotist at Center for Prosthetic Solutions, Sal specializes in custom bracing solutions and brings a hands-on, patient-first approach to every individual she works with. Her belief that every patient deserves personalized, attentive care is at the heart of everything she does.

Vicki Clem

Insurance and billing Specialist

Vicki has been apart of the team for 10 years! She is our insurance and billing specialist. She loves to see amazing patient outcomes through the work that we do. Outside of work, Vicki enjoys crafts and crocheting.

Margaret Milord

Orthotic Assistant

Margaret has been a part of the team since 2015. Prior to joining the Valley Orthotics & Prosthetics, Margaret worked as a PTA for the Valley Health System. She attended Saint Petersburg college in Florida to become an orthotic fitter. She is an integral part of the orthotics team, helping orthotic projects flow smoothly from start to finish. She enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time. She also enjoys her dogs Bandit and Tyson as well as practicing Reiki.

Kevin Mason

Orthotic Technician

Kevin has been a part of the team since in 2018. He has worked in many industries and is a jack of all trades. He is responsible for all in house fabrication of custom orthotic devices. He loves to see patients’ faces light up with happiness when they are fitted with a custom brace that improves the quality of their daily life.

In his free time, he likes outdoor activities, seeing new places, spending time with family, and playing music.

Joseph Saady, Ph.D.

Chief Financial Officer

Dr. Joseph Saady is a nationally recognized expert in forensic toxicology and former Chief Toxicologist for the Commonwealth of Virginia. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, he served at the Pentagon in the Chemical Biological Defense program, where he helped develop the Department of Defense’s CBD budget.

Dr. Saady’s financial expertise spans his roles as Treasurer and Finance Committee member of a major scientific organization, Congressional budget assitance, and managing his own consulting practice. As CFO of the Center for Prosthetic Solutions, he is committed to building a strong financial foundation so our clinical team can focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Kimberly Hewavita

Business Development & Finance

Kimberly Hewavita is a co-owner of the Center for Prosthetic Solutions, overseeing business development and finance. But at the core of everything she does is a profound care for people and an unwavering commitment to human dignity.

A mother of four, Kimberly understands firsthand what it means to pour yourself into others — and she brings that same devotion to every role she holds. A full-scholarship graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s prestigious fine art program, she combines creativity with sharp analytical thinking to support the Center’s growth and mission.

With over 20 years of experience across public, private, and homeschool education, her life has been defined by investing in the potential of others. She extends that same spirit into her community by volunteering with Rise Up, a local fitness group serving the amputee community.

Kimberly is the steady, compassionate force behind much of what makes the Center thrive — driven not by the bottom line, but by the belief that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and cared for.
